How do I enrol into Tutor Lim tutoring program?

You can get in touch with us directly on our website through our online enrolment process. During this process, we’ll ask for a sample copy of your work example, along with a few simple questions to recommend a learning program to suit your needs. What is Tutor Lim?

We are a tutoring academy specialise in teaching any subjects related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Commerce. Recently, we have expanded to coaching Commerce related subjects.

For online tutoring, what computer hardware and software do I need?

We use Lessonspace - you don’t need any special software or downloads for your tutoring sessions, just a laptop or computer with an internet connection, audio and a web cam. We provide everything else. The sessions are always live, in real time and interactive.

All our tutors are trained to navigate and to use this tool, and we have a dedicated resource to guide students through who to set up and get optimal experience from our new online lesson space. You can also opt to use Zoom or Skype based on preference and our tutors are flexible on that too.

I’m really looking for someone to turn my child into a genius. Can you do that?

Although we’d all love to be responsible for the next baby Mozart, our tutoring programs are highly customised and very specifically designed to build your child’s confidence in their abilities and help them reach their (personal) potential. This might well be top marks in the state. Or it could be good marks achieved with pride. Either way, our goal is to instil a love of learning in every one of our students, so that they’ll continue to do it for the rest of their lives.

 

 

2. Learning Programs

 
 

How long does it take to finish a learning program?

It depends on the tutoring program you are enrolled in, your needs, the pace at which you work through the program, and how many sessions you choose to do each week. We’ll give you an estimated completion date at the start of your program, and update this as you progress.

When can I start my learning program?

Whenever you like. Simply drop us an enquiry online and let us know your preferred start date and time.

Can I enrol in a learning program before I’ve started studying that particular topic at school/university?

Yes. Many of our students do this to get a head start.

Can I enrol in more than one learning program at a time?

Yes. You can enrol in as many learning programs as you like.

Can I pause my learning program?

Yes, if you’re enrolled in a 1-to-1 learning program. You can do this by:

We are available Mon-Fri 9am to 9pm, and Sat-Sun 9am to 6pm.

You’ll be able to pause your 1-to-1 learning program free of charge if you do so at least 48 hours before your next scheduled online session. Any sessions paused with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur the full charge as outlined on our Service Fees page.

Can I end my learning program early?

Yes. You can cancel your learning program by:

  1. Login into your Teachworks account.

We are available Mon-Fri 9am to 9pm, and Sat-Sun 9am to 6pm.

Please view our Service Fees page for information about refunds for cancelling your learning program.

Can I work through my learning program at my own pace?

Yes. Our 1-to-1 learning programs are designed so you can work through them with your tutor at the pace that suits you. We’ll update your estimated completion date as you progress.

How many hours a week should I spend on my learning program?

We recommend students to schedule at least one session with their tutor each week, but you can choose to do more or less each week based on what suits you.

Do you do group tutoring?

Yes, we offer small group sessions with private tutors.

What happens when my learning program ends?

You’ll have the option to progress to the next learning program that meets your needs. Our Learning Advisors will be able to help you with this.

 

 

3. Learning Sessions

 
 

What is a learning session?

These are the sessions you have with your private tutor on our learning platform. You and your tutor can:

  • Scheduling lessons through Teachworks
  • Learning with Lessonspace - real-time video and audio, and work through your learning program together using a virtual whiteboard.
  • Advancing with on-demand courses with Skillate - additional lecture type support, hands-on tutorial practise and mock exams with our tutors.

Learning sessions have a minimum commitment of an hour per lesson. You may can choose to do up to 3 hours per lesson. Breakdown as below:

  • 1 hour Tutoring
  • 1.5 hours Tutoring
  • 2 hours Tutoring
  • 2.5 hours Tutoring
  • 3 hours Tutoring

We only allow 30 minutes variance. For an example, if you have gone pass your lesson by 5 minutes, you may choose to complete the 30 minutes time slot or your next lesson will be deducted by 5 minutes

How do I book a learning session with my tutor?

You schedule sessions with your tutor when you enrol in your learning program. You can also add, reschedule, pause or cancel sessions by:

Can I change my learning session times?

Yes. You can change your session times, as well as pause or cancel sessions, by:

  1. Login into your Teachworks account.

We are available Mon-Fri 9am to 9pm, and Sat-Sun 9am to 6pm.

You’ll be able to reschedule your session free of charge if you do so at least 48 hours before it starts. Any sessions rescheduled with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur the full charge as outlined on our Service Fees page.

What happens if I miss a learning session?

As long as you give us at least 48 hours’ notice, we won’t charge you for missing a session. Any sessions missed with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur the full charge as outlined on our Service Fees page.

How do I access recordings of my previous sessions to help me review and revise?

This is only applicable for online tutoring type. Please make sure you request for the lesson to be recorded To view recordings of your previous tutoring sessions, you’ll need to contact the Student Support team and they will send you a special link to access your recordings. We do this for security and privacy reasons. In the future, all recordings will be accessible via your online portal account.

4. Your Private Tutor

 
 

Who is my private tutor

We match you with the private tutor who is best suited to your needs when you enrol in your learning program.

All our tutors are elite teachers, top ATAR achievers, past examiners, or subject matter experts with a proven track record of helping students like you succeed. And they must pass a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and our rigorous selection criteria before we’ll assign them to any student.

Will I have the same tutor for each session in my learning program?

Our tutors typically work with the same student for at least six to eight weeks, and often much longer. If your tutor’s no longer available – or you’d like to work with someone else – we’ll match you with another tutor who’s right for you.

And because everything you’ve worked on can be recorded in our learning platform, your new tutor will know exactly what you’ve covered, and what you need to do next..

What happens if I need to help from my tutor urgently or before my next scheduled session?

You can schedule an extra session by

What happens if I’m not happy with my tutor?

You can raise this with us by:

5. Payments

 
 

How do I pay for my learning program?

We accept PayPal or Stripe, and this incl. VISA or Mastercard debit or credit card payments.

Procedures for refund request

For Pay As You Go plans, you’re charged 7 days in advance of your next scheduled session. For Pre-Paid Bundle plans, you’re charged the full plan amount two days before your first session.

You can also pause, reschedule or skip sessions free of charge at any time by notifying us at least 48 hours’ before your next session. Any sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur the full charge as outlined on our Service Fees page.

Who do I contact if I have a questions about payments?
